The Dorking Turnery goes live!

After 8 years of woodturning, I have finally decided to have a website. If you are reading this then thank you for visiting! I hope you will enjoy browsing the products and projects on here.

I'm going to blog about my work, what inspires me, new techniques, tools and materials I'm experimenting with. I create all sorts of turned wood items like bowls, Christmas decorations, candlesticks, goblets and boxes. I mainly use English native woods like birch, oak, sycamore and beech. I am particularly enjoying some Holm Oak which I got from Poleseden Lacey National Trust Property - it's hard as iron, but has a delightful colour, grain and finish.

I want to let the quality of the wood shine through, so pleasing, simple, elegant curves are the main design feature. People who see my work often comment that there is a sculptural quality to it - tey are as nice to hold as to look at.

In the meanwhile, if you would like to buy something, or just to be in contact please do email me, I will be delighted to hear from you. I can also undertake commissions.
